Royal Air Maroc has successfully obtained its Cargo iQ certification in accordance with the Cargo iQ quality management standards of the airfreight industry, following the example of major players in the supply chain, including freight forwarders, air carriers and leading global IT solution providers. Royal Air Maroc becomes the first African airline to be granted this certification. Originally founded by major airlines and freight forwarders to make the supply chain more reliable, Cargo iQ, an IATA special interest group, has now grown to more than 60 members from across the supply chain including airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, IT solution providers, trucking services and, more recently, small and medium-sized forwarders. In addition to this prestigious certification, which reflects the rapid and measurable progress made by the national airline in the field of air cargo, Royal Air Maroc has also been granted two additional stars in the categories of "Corporate Social Responsibility" and "Spirit of Innovation". Valid for a period of 3 years following a rigorous audit conducted by an accredited certification body, this renewable certification follows Royal Air Maroc's adhesion to the Cargo iQ community in 2019. This audit is intended to assess the compliance of members' operations based on a Master Operating Plan (MOP). This master plan focuses on standardizing processes and improving transparency by interfacing shipment data exchanges between stakeholders for accurate planning and proactive monitoring.

In partnership with its General Sales Agent in Israel, ROMTOP Aviation, Royal Air Maroc made an appearance during the Port2Port H2022 exhibition, held on March 28 in Petah Tikva. The event, organized by the eponymous leading Israeli Logistics & Supply Chain Media, attracted more than a thousand visitors, and allowed Royal Air Maroc to mark its entry in Israel’s freight scene. Multiple lectures, presentations and panels centered around logistics took place during the conference, which was followed by a three-day virtual exhibition made available online. The airline is operating up to five weekly flights between Casablanca and Tel Aviv, with possible connections to more than 50 destinations worldwide.

Royal Air Maroc named ATC Aviation its best Cargo General Sales Agent for 2021 during a ceremony held in Casablanca on March 29, 2022. Salim Quouninich, the airline’s Vice-President for Cargo, presented ATC Aviation’s CEO Ingo Zimmer with a trophy to celebrate this important milestone. With its global head office based in Frankfurt, ATC Aviation represents Royal Air Maroc Cargo in many European, American and Asian countries.

Royal Air Maroc has published its new seasonal full freighter schedule, effective from 27 March 2022 and lasting through to 10 October 2022. These flights will be operated on a B767-300 Full Freighter, with a transport capacity of 45 tons, and entirely dedicated to the carriage of cargo. The aircraft will serve Brussels three times a week, as well as Bamako, Ouagadougou and Lagos once a week, thus linking Africa to Europe in a weekly and evenly spaced manner, owing to the strategic position of the airline's national hub and the fast connections it provides. In addition to the full freighter connections offered by this schedule, flights to and from other airports served by Royal Air Maroc aboard its mixed flights will be made possible on a more regular basis. Similarly, the company's European cargo hub based in Brussels will allow for a more efficient grouping of shipments from Europe, thanks to the extended network of road and air partners that Royal Air Maroc boasts.

Royal Air Maroc will launch a new direct air route linking Casablanca to Tel Aviv from 13 March 2022.Three frequencies will be operated by B737-800 with a flight duration of less than five and a half hours, and a cargo capacity of 3 tons per flight. The number of frequencies will vary from 2 to 3 frequencies per week. These flights will be operated with a travel time of less than five and a half hours, and a cargo capacity of 3 tons per flight. This new route will help develop trade between the two countries, thus expanding business opportunities for both Israeli and Moroccan exporters.

As part of the dematerialization of its import operations, Royal Air Maroc, the Customs and Excise Administration and the National Single Window of Foreign Trade PortNet are pursuing their collaboration in order to facilitate administrative formalities and procedures. Following the successful implementation of the digitalized services for the submission of summary declarations and the electronic remittance of delivery orders, Royal Air Maroc is now able to provide goods issue documents via PortNet. Royal Air Maroc delivers this document in favor of importers or forwarders, which allows them to withdraw their goods through a dematerialized process. The carrier previously carried out this operation manually after checking that the customs formalities had been completed, and obtaining the release issued by the customs authorities. From now on, the emission of the goods issue document is fully automated and is carried out entirely through the PortNet Single Window. This service is operational in all of the airline’s national freight terminals and further facilitates the exchange of information between national players in the logistics chain, while reducing the time required to collect and deliver imported goods. Through this cooperation, Royal Air Maroc, the Customs and Excise Administration and the National Single Window of Foreign Trade PortNet strengthen their synergy to offer a better quality of service to economic operators.

As vaccination continues to roll out worldwide, Royal Air Maroc Cargo pursues its involvement in the global flight against the pandemic and has successfully taken part in several Charter operations for the delivery of vaccines to Africa & Latin America this year, totaling more than 1 000 tons. All these charter flights were operated by the carrier’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet & 767 FF that offers up to 45 tons capacity. Additional charter operations for the delivery of vaccines are currently underway. Royal Air Maroc plans to strengthens its Charter services for vaccines transportation through both its B767-300F and B787-9 fleet. Royal Air Maroc Cargo, the leading air cargo company in Morocco, and Air Charter Service, a specialist in air chartering, have joined forces to operate a Cargo Charter flight carrying a cargo of humanitarian aid from Paris. Royal Air Maroc's Boeing 767-300 Freighter aircraft transported nearly 45 tons of food products to Africa for a renowned Non-Governmental Organization in March 2021. Air Charter Service is a key player in the transportation of urgent humanitarian aid and has been able to meet the logistical challenges of cargo chartering thanks to its experience of more than 30 years in supporting international aid programs, with notable interventions in more than a dozen countries including Somalia, Rwanda, Libya and Syria. This is the second successful collaboration of Royal Air Maroc with Air Charter Service. In a context where world air traffic is particularly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the two air cargo specialists intend to continue to use their respective expertise to help landlocked countries or countries in need of humanitarian aid.

As part of the deployment of its air cargo digitalization strategy, Royal Air Maroc continues its innovation and partners with PORTNET S.A. for the adoption of the electronic delivery order. After having launched the dematerialization of the submission of summary declarations via PortNet, the national airline is now initiating the electronic issuance of the delivery order, previously physically handed over by the carrier to the consignee of the goods. Thanks to this innovation, Royal Air Maroc actively participates in the fluidity of air cargo flows, and improves the transparency and traceability of related operations. Thus, the delivery order required for the delivery of goods placed under customs supervision is now generated automatically. It is made available to the importer or his representative electronically through the PortNet Single Window platform based on the company’s common identifier of the consignee. With the adoption of the electronic delivery order, the document is now available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As a result, the new service speeds up the pick-up and release of goods. Its online accessibility also allows real-time visibility for all stakeholders, improving transparency and reducing the physical exchange of documents between Royal Air Maroc and national importers, which is of crucial importance in the context of the ongoing health emergency. Through this approach implemented at all of the national airline's freight terminals, Royal Air Maroc offers the community of importers and national freight forwarders an improved quality of service, a more fluid logistics chain, and considerable time saving resulting in greater efficiency in the processing of imported goods.

Royal Air Maroc has signed a Global Master Lease Agreement (MLA) with Envirotainer, the global market leader in secure cold chain solutions for air transport of pharmaceuticals. Through this partnership, Royal Air Maroc is now able to provide its customers with on-demand leasing options for temperature-controlled containers, including the Envirotainer® container RAP t2 and the Envirotainer® container RAP e2. As part of its partnership with PortNet, Royal Air Maroc is pursuing the digitization of its processes, and now relies on the digital PortNet platform of the national single window for foreign trade for the filing and processing of import customs documents starting from Monday the 21st of December 2020. This initiative will allow Royal Air Maroc to benefit from the online services provided via the PortNet platform of the national single window for foreign trade. These new features will be rolled out incrementally and include the electronic management of delivery orders, the automatic arrival notification of imported goods and the coordinated planning of the physical inspection of goods. As a result, the delivery orders, which used to be physically handed by the carrier to the consignee to allow for the clearance of goods, will now be generated automatically and sent electronically to the importer or his representative. Similarly, the arrival notifications made to importers to inform them of delivery places and dates will henceforth be the subject of instantaneous automatic notifications. Lastly, physical inspection appointments will thereupon be scheduled electronically via the PortNet platform, the latter ensuring the coordination between Royal Air Maroc, the Moroccan Customs and Excise Administration and other inspection agencies for the definition of an inspection date and the placement of the goods in the dedicated inspection zone. At the present time, the digital submission of summary declarations filed with customs before the arrival of the corresponding flights, and containing all the information pertaining to the Cargo shipped by Royal Air Maroc, is already effective. This new process is operational in all of the airline’s freight terminals in Morocco. It allows Royal Air Maroc to streamline its logistics chain for freight transportation, to accelerate its import procedures, and to provide Moroccan importers with an enhanced service quality through the improvement of notification and delivery times.

RAM is strengthening its program of international flights to and from Tangier by introducing new flight connections from the Pearl of the North to Malaga, Madrid, Barcelona and Brussels. Tangier-Malaga flights will operate at five frequencies per week, while Madrid, Barcelona and Brussels will be served four times a week.

Royal Air Maroc has launched its full Cargo winter schedule. The schedule is valid until the 27th of March 2021. The airline’s freighter will fly from its hub in Casablanca to Brussels twice a week, and to Ouagadougou and Bamako once a week. Royal Air Maroc brought together its national Cargo partners and clients during an awards gala held in Casablanca on the 12th of December 2019. During this event, the Moroccan exporter of fresh fruits and vegetables Atlantic Gulf Company and the freight forwarder Transport Internationaux Philipe Peschaud were both awarded the prize for Best Air Freight Clients in Morocco for 2019 by the airline. These awards were presented by Salim Quouninich, VP Cargo for Royal Air Maroc. The evening provided the airline an opportunity to look back on some of its major achievements for the past year, to introduce its new winter freighter schedule and to unveil its most important strategic projects for 2020. As a matter of fact, the development of the airline’s cargo activity continues, mainly to African destinations. This year has seen the addition of a second weekly cargo flight to Bamako and Abidjan, and the launch of a new weekly flight to Niamey in the freighter schedule. In addition, two palletized flights are now operated from the airline’s hub to Dakar every week. “We are honored to support national economic actors in their development and their global expansion. RAM Cargo has unveiled its new Full Freighter Winter Program with 8 destinations in Africa in Europe served via its hub in Casablanca. This schedule will be effective from the 27th of October 2019 until the 28th of March 2020. The airline’s B767-300 Freighter, which started operating in June 2018, will continue linking Africa to Europe via Casablanca through multiple daily flights. In Europe, Paris will be served once a week, Frankfurt twice a week and Brussels three times a week. On the African continent, Douala, Lagos and Niamey will be flown to once a week, while Bamako and Abidjan will be served twice a week.

RAM Cargo and the National Single Window of Foreign Trade "PortNet" are joining forces for the digitization of air freight services. The two parties have signed an agreement for the implementation of “E-Freight”, a platform designed to achieve the end-to-end integration of the logistics chain and of foreign trade. The main goal of this partnership is to ultimately improve imports and exports competitiveness and render all associated processes paperless. This agreement will enhance and simplify procedures within all national airports, while accelerating the airport community’s efforts in promoting air freight. Thus, both parties will contribute to strengthening electronic data exchange security and will work towards the complete digitization of air logistics processes for international trade.

Royal Air Maroc has become a member of Cargo iQ. The announcement was made at the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA)’s World Cargo Symposium in Singapore. Royal Air Maroc is joining more than 80 other Cargo iQ members, including airlines, forwarders, Ground Handling Agents, and IT companies. Cargo iQ is an IATA interest group with the mission of creating and implementing quality standards for the worldwide air cargo industry. “Membership will allow us to utilize the milestones established by Cargo iQ, as well as access member-generated data to ensure our processes and reporting are at the highest possible industry standard.” , says Salim Quouninich, VP Cargo for the Moroccan airline.

For Morocco’s national air cargo leader, the launch of its new B767-F operations in July is undoubtedly the highlight of 2018. Its Cargo program now covers Europe and Africa: With a capacity of 45 tons, the freighter serves Brussels, Frankfurt, Abidjan, Bamako, Libreville and Douala on a weekly basis. Nouakchott is served one week out of two. These destinations are operated on a regular basis in accordance with the defined program to provide customers with optimal visibility and good quality of service. As for the rest of the world, the passenger network of the Moroccan airline is growing continuously and allows RAM Cargo to transport freight to more than 88 destinations. The carrier also plans to add five new destinations to its network as of April 2019. Thanks to this new impetus, Royal Air Maroc Cargo has succeeded in positioning itself as a Challenger in the air freight industry, and in making Casablanca an essential hub for shipments to and from West Africa. "We are proud of the progress made this year and we do not intend to slow down," says Mr. Salim Quouninich, VP Cargo for Royal Air Maroc. «Now that the B767-F program has been stabilized, we will work on the development of two new products, namely Cargo Pharma for pharmaceutical shipments, and Cargo Stables for the transportation of horses and large sized animals", he adds. The company has already managed to build cutting-edge expertise in the transportation and processing of special products such as live animals and perishables. Moreover, and since the launch of the B767-Freighter operations, RAM Cargo has quickly established itself in the niche of oversized aeronautical parts shipments. Finally, and in addition to its regular freighter program, RAM Cargo has officially launched its charter service, and has already completed four charter operations in Europe, Africa and North America. Boeing delivered the first 787-9 Dreamliner for Royal Air Maroc, introducing a second member of the super-efficient Dreamliner family to the airline’s fleet. The new airplane offers more seats and more range, which will help Morocco’s flag carrier grow its international business. “We are particularly pleased to receive today our airline’s first 787-9, which will soon be joined by three other models from the same family. The choice of this airplane forms part of our strategy to continuously expand and modernize our fleet, and comes just a few days after the announcement of the invitation made to Royal Air Maroc to join the highly prestigious Oneworld Alliance. This will further strengthen our country’s and Royal Air Maroc’s leadership position on the continent,” says Abdelhamid Addou, CEO and Chairman of Royal Air Maroc. In 2015, the airline was the first in the Mediterranean to fly the 787-8, the initial Dreamliner that offered 20 percent less fuel and fewer emissions. With the airplane’s exceptional fuel efficiency and performance, Royal Air Maroc planned new, non-stop routes such as Casablanca to Washington, D.C and to Miami. With the larger, longer-range 787-9, Royal Air Maroc will be able to fly several hundred miles farther (up to 7,635 nautical miles or 14,140 km). The airline plans to deploy the 787-9 on routes such as Casablanca to Paris (Orly), to New York and to Sao Paulo. To celebrate its inaugural 787-9, Royal Air Maroc unveiled a special livery that honors contemporary Moroccan culture. Later this month, Royal Air Maroc will begin modernizing its single-aisle fleet when it takes delivery of its first 737 MAX, the latest and more efficient version of the 737 airplane. The jet will join a fleet of more than 60 Boeing airplanes.

Royal Air Maroc and Etihad Airways have signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of their Cargo activities on the 29th of May 2017 at the Moroccan airline’s headquarters in Casablanca. The agreement was signed in the presence of Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc; David Kerr, senior VP Cargo for Etihad Airways and Amine El Farissi, VP Cargo for Royal Air Maroc. This memorandum thus declares a convergence of intent between the two airlines to promote their commercial cooperation. Royal Air Maroc Cargo is the leader of air freight transport in Morocco and offers an air cargo service throughout the Royal Air Maroc network and through dedicated Cargo flights serving Europe daily, along with a number of African cities departing from Casablanca, the airline’s main hub. This partnership aims at increasing both the airlines’ capacities while allowing for new markets to be reached.
